"Where quality and compliance count"

Fire Risk Assessments

A fire risk assessment involves identifying fire hazards, people at risk, and evaluating, removing or reducing those risks, then recording findings, developing emergency plans, and providing training. It's a crucial process for ensuring workplace and building safety.

1. What We're Looking for:

Sources of ignition:

We look for potential ignition sources like electrical equipment, heating systems, machinery, or flammable materials and record this information accordingly.

Sources of fuel:

We identify materials that can burn, such as chemicals, cleaning agents, textiles, or waste, whilst conducting the fire risk assessment.

Sources of oxygen:

Our assessor considers airflow from windows, doors, or air conditioning systems, as well as medical or commercial oxygen sources.

2. The People at Risk:

Employees:

Consider those working in areas with fire hazards, including those working alone or in isolated areas.

Visitors:

Factor in contractors, temporary workers, or anyone else who might be present in the building.

Special populations:

Pay attention to the elderly, disabled, or those with specific vulnerabilities.

Eliminate hazards:

Remove or replace ignition sources and fuel materials where possible.

Control risks:

Implement safety measures like fire detection and suppression systems, fire-rated doors, and proper storage of flammable materials.

Assess remaining risks

If some risks can't be entirely eliminated, assess their level and implement additional control measures.

Ensuring the fire safety systems are being adequately serviced and maintained to current British Standards.
