"Where quality and compliance count"

Fire Training

Fire safety training for all employees is a requirement in the workplace under The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. This training can also extend to the responsibilities of Fire Marshalls in the workplace, who may need to understand the importance of safe evacuation procedures from a building for all members of staff and the public if required.

Training Courses

DB Fire Risk Assessments Ltd provides a wide range of fire safety training programmes, tailored to suit different businesses and group sizes. All training is delivered by fully qualified fire safety professionals.

Unlike online-only courses, our training gives delegates real, practical experience with fire safety equipment—so they know how it works, when to use it, and when not to.

Hands-On Fire Safety Training

Our fire safety courses combine classroom learning with hands-on experience, including the practical use of fire extinguishers on live fire (where safe and appropriate). Training typically takes place in a controlled outdoor area, such as a cordoned-off section of a car park. Every participant has the chance to safely operate a fire extinguisher under the guidance of a qualified instructor.

We offer two types of fire training:

To receive certification, all delegates must score at least 75% on the course. This shows they've gained essential fire safety or fire marshal skills. It means your team is better prepared to recognise fire risks and follow safer practices, such as keeping fire doors closed to protect escape routes.
Basic fire awareness training
This is suitable for all employees in the workplace and offers an introductory guide as to what to do in the event of a fire emergency, how to raise the alarm, as well as practical ‘hands-on’ training with fire safety equipment (if safe to do so). All trainees should, following the course, have a basic understanding of the theory of fire, what things they should be responsible for to make their workplace a safer working environment from a fire safety perspective, and how fire safety equipment works and where it should be (and shouldn’t) be used.
Fire Marshal training
This is a far more intensive course that teaches trainees their roles and responsibilities as a fire marshal in the workplace. It is a certificated course with an open-book examination at the end of the presentation and training course. It is important to have refresher courses on Fire Marshal training when there have been changes in the building layout or changes to the company’s production processes.

How often should training take place?

The law states that fire training should be conducted regularly. The following indicators can be used to determine when fire training should be conducted :
New Employees
Changes in building layout
Changes to the companies production process
Employees in need of a refresh
Outdated training records
